Menke Named to NABC Honor Court

Trevor-Menke-Nebraska-Huskers-BasketballLincoln – University of Nebraska basketball player Trevor Menke was honored Wednesday, as he was named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches Honor Court.  The honor is given to players who are a junior or senior in academic standing, carry a 3.2 GPA or higher at the conclusion of the 2012-13 academic year and have matriculated at least one year at their current institution.

Menke was one of the Huskers’ top backup guards last season, appearing in 15 games and posting a 5-to-1 assist-to-turnover ratio in 65 minutes of action. He played a career-high 16 minutes against both NCAA Tournament qualifier Southern and UNO, dishing out a career-high three assists in the win over the Mavericks.

In the classroom, he is a social science education major and has been an academic All-Big Ten selection in each of the last two years. Last spring, he was given the Nebraska Student-Athlete HERO Leadership Award for his community service contributions. He was also on the Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll in each of the past two semesters.

Menke is one of 14 Big Ten student-athletes honored Tuesday, joining a list that includes Ohio State’s Aaron Craft, Northwestern’s Drew Crawford and Reggie Hearn and Wisconsin’s Jared Berggren.
