Esther “Nancy” Meins, 65, of North Platte, NE, passed away Friday, July 19, 2013, at Great Plains Regional Medical Center in North Platte.
Nancy was born January 24, 1948, at Kearney, NE to LeRoy Melvin and Darlene Velma Tolle DeVall. She grew up in Bloomington, NE where she attended school. Nancy worked in Oregon before she married Doug Meins in Modesto, CA. They made their home in California then she returned to the McCook, NE area following Doug’s death. In 2003 Nancy moved to North Platte where she attended the Frontier House and lived at the Pawnee Retirement Center, Liberty House and the North Platte Care Center.
Survivors include three sisters, Rose Griffing, of Culbertson, NE, Delores Fahrenbruch, of McCook, NE and Cindy (Jerry) Mills, of Bolivar, NY; a daughter, Tammy Meins, of Oregon; many nieces, nephews, and other family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Doug; her parents, LeRoy and Darlene DeVall; four sisters, Darlene Nelson, Patty Snell, Mary Osborn and Penny Havel; and six brothers-in-law, Delbert Nelson, Glen Snell, Larry Osborn, Ray Havel, David Fahrenbruch and Norvin Griffing.
Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 23, 2013, at Odean Colonial Chapel At C & Sycamore with Pastor Richard Karr officiating. Burial will be in the Kearney Cemetery in Kearney, NE.
