Amish Woman Recovering from Buggy Crash That Killed Her Brother

amish-buggy(AP) — An Amish woman injured in a buggy crash east of Pawnee City remains in critical condition, but a friend says she is improving.

20-year-old Fannie Yoder was still at a Lincoln hospital as of Sunday afternoon. A nursing supervisor says Yoder remained in critical condition after the July 21 crash, which killed her 17-year-old brother, Reuben Yoder.

But Kathy Monarrez, a friend of Yoder’s who has driven family members to the hospital for visits, says Fannie Yoder has shown substantial improvement since she was admitted to the hospital.

The two were traveling to church in a horse-drawn buggy on Nebraska Highway 8/50 when they were struck from behind by a Cadillac. The Cadillac driver was treated for minor injuries.
