Nebraska History Event to Focus on Fort Atkinson

fort-atkinson(AP) — The history of Fort Atkinson will be the focus of a Living History Weekend at Fort Atkinson State Historical Park next weekend.

There will be military drills and hands-on activities with the civilian interpreters.

Programs at 11 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. on Saturday will focus on the plants and animals that the Lewis and Clark expedition documented and what’s being done to restore wildlife habitats of the river valley.

Fort Atkinson sits seven blocks east of U.S. Highway 75 near Fort Calhoun in eastern Nebraska. A park entry permit is required and may be purchased at the park.

Contact the park for more information at 402-468-5611 or [email protected].
