Delores Jean Swift, 89, of North Platte, formerly of Scottsbluff, passed away, Saturday, July 27, at Linden Court in North Platte.
Delores Jean (Vorse) Swift was born April 26, 1924, in Scottsbluff, where she was raised and went to school. She married Martin Bakken Feb. 28, 1945, and had four children: Linda (Duane), Marla , Clydene (Bob) and Brad. She later raised her 13-month-old niece Aldenea Vorse (Keith) and, after the death of Aldenea’s mother, adopted her into the family. She divorced Martin in 1965 and married Ross Swift in 1967 and together they had a daughter Vale (Darren). She had many grandchildren and great grandchildren, at times, too many to count.
Delores loved people and no one was a stranger to her. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She especially enjoyed working in the nursery at First Baptist Church and babysitting many different children. Delores was a stay at home mom. She enjoyed canning, sewing, cooking, crocheting and providing a role model to children.
Delores was preceded in death by her husband Ross Swift; her parents Clyde and Mabel Vorse; her brother Alden; her sister, Charlotte Ginther, her daughter, Linda; and brothers-in-law, Roy Ginther and Gene Purnell.
Survivors include a sister, Shirley Purnell, of Scottsbluff.

Services will be at 1 p.m.(MDT), Wednesday, July 31, at First Baptist Church in Scottsbluff with Pastors Gary Cole and James Rowe officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park.
