(AP) — The one-time owners of a Lincoln window company have been sentenced to prison for failing to pay federal income taxes and income tax withholdings of employees.
Michael and Laurie Russell, of Hickman, were sentenced Monday in federal court in Lincoln. Michael Russell was sentenced to 16 months in prison. Laurie Russell was sentenced to six months. The Russells were also ordered to pay restitution of more than $311,000 to the IRS.
The Russells were convicted of failing to pay that amount in taxes and withholdings of their employees for 2006 when they owned North Country Windows Inc. of Lincoln.
Federal prosecutor say the Russells lived a comfortable lifestyle and had the financial ability to pay the taxes, but chose not to.
