(AP) — A 59-year-old Norfolk man has died after a collision in northeast Nebraska.

The Pierce County Sheriff’s Office says the accident occurred around 12:30 p.m. Tuesday about 7½ miles northeast of Pierce.

Authorities say a southbound sport utility vehicle driven by 27-year-old Erick Weisz, also from Norfolk, collided with an eastbound vehicle at the intersection of Nebraska Highway 98 and 557th Avenue.

Weisz was taken to Faith Regional Hospital in Norfolk. The sheriff’s office says the other driver was flown to Mercy Hospital in Sioux City, Iowa, where he was pronounced dead. His name hasn’t been released.

The accident is being investigated.
