(AP) — A 31-year-old man who broke a Lincoln police officer’s nose when confronted about shoplifting suspicions has been sentenced to up to four years in prison.
Court records say Jesse Lee Hare pleaded no contest to third-degree assault on an officer plus charges of attempted forgery in the first-degree and theft by deception.
On Friday, he was sentenced to two to four years in prison.
Authorities say the officer was punched after chasing Hare, who was reported as a suspect in a grocery store theft.
Prosecutors also said Hare tried to grab the officer’s gun and shouted during the scuffle that he had the officer’s gun.
