North Platte Community College is pleased to announce that Eagle Radio of North Platte, representing MIX-97,1410AM- ESPN, and Q-Country 107.3, will hold exclusive radio broadcast rights to all NPCC athletic events and serve as the “Exclusive Radio Voice of the Knights and Lady Knights” for the 2013-2014 academic year.

Robert Lovell, sports director at Eagle Radio, will provide live “play-by-play” broadcasts of NPCC Knights women’s volleyball, women’s basketball, men’s basketball and women’s softball games throughout the year.

“NPCC athletics have awesome teams that consistently make deep post-season runs and we’re hopeful that this upcoming year will be no different,” said Marcus Garstecki, NPCC Vice President. “We are pleased and excited that Eagle Radio will partner with us to provide game coverage of our teams this year.”

“We’ve had an excellent longtime relationship in the coverage provided by Eagle Radio Sports, but it was somewhat informal. This new agreement formalizes our relationship,” said Chuck Salestrom, Area Associate Vice President for Public Information, Marketing and Development. “We believe Eagle Radio is passionate about our athletics. Chuck Schwartz was truly “the voice” for years and provided countless hours of sports radio coverage. Then when Dan Lucero took over, the coverage didn’t miss a beat. Now, with Robert Lovell at the play-by-play mic, we know the passion and quality will continue to be excellent.”

According to Jerome Gilg, Eagle Radio general manager, coverage will begin with Coach Sally Thalken’s Subway Volleyball Tournament beginning at 5 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 23.

“We want to build on our longtime coverage of the Knights and make it even more of a commitment,” said Gilg. “Robert will do a great job calling games and also on his daily sports show, ‘The Blitz,’ airing from noon until 1 p.m. daily on 1410AM-ESPN Radio.”

Games may be heard on 1410AM-ESPN. The college will also provide a link to Eagle Radio’s coverage of the Knights on its athletic website found at: http://npccknights.com/

“We’re planning a number of new and exciting events and activities at our games this year. We’ll be unfolding those special nights as they get close,” said Salestrom. “As they say in radio – stay tuned!”
