Seward Developing 300-Acre Rail Campus

bnsf(AP) — Seward officials are working with BNSF railroad to develop a cornfield on the south side of town into a rail campus for commercial and industrial tenants.

The centerpiece for the 300-acre site would be a rail loop that could handle 130-car trains.

Jonathan Jank is executive director of Seward County Economic Development and is among local officials who are promoting the project. He says he will take the rail campus idea to trade shows in November and January in Chicago and sell its potential to possible tenants.

BNSF spokesman Andy Williams acknowledged that BNSF is working with the city on track design and alignment to help market the rail campus.
