Dorothy J. McFarland, 83, of North Platte passed away August 23, 2013 at Centennial Park Retirement Village. She was born March 16, 1930 in North Platte to Clyde and Edna (Panzer) Macomber. Dorothy attended North Platte High School. On November 25, 1946 she married Francis Dale McFarland.
At the age of 55 she received her G.E.D. Dorothy was a homemaker who was most proud of her three sons. She was a member of the First Evangelical Lutheran Church. Late in life she worked as a cashier at Conley-Detlefson Truck Stop.

Survivors include sons, James (Kim) McFarland of Lincoln, NE, Robert (Roselyn) McFarland of North Platte, NE and Mark (Marcia) McFarland of Albion, NE; 9 grandchildren, Doug McFarland of Lincoln, NE, Jamie McFarland of New York; Brian (Stephanie) McFarland of Decatur, NE, Greg (Heather) McFarland of Lee Summit, MO, Jody (Travis) Lawson of Martinez, CA, Keri (Steve) Dowler of Merriam, KS, Staci (Mike) Kelly of Lawton, IA, Leslie (Andrew) Feeney of Omaha, NE and Jana (Brent) Turner of Grant, NE; 17 great-grandchildren; and a half brother, Chet (Charlene) Macomber of Salt Lake City, UT.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and uncle and aunt, Chet and Marge Macomber.
Services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 26, 2013 at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church with the Reverend Frank Fitch III officiating. Burial will follow at the North Platte City Cemetery. Visitation will be 12:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. today and Sunday at Adams & Swanson Funeral Home which is in charge of arrangements.
