(AP) — A 24-year-old man has been charged with sexually assaulting a child in the south-central Nebraska town of Hardy.

James Wheeler Jr. surrendered on Wednesday after a warrant was issued.

Authorities say a baby sitter discovered the girl was assaulted on Aug. 19.

Wheeler remains in custody, pending $100,000 bail. Online court records don’t list the name of his attorney
