(AP) — The U.S. Attorney’s Office for Nebraska says a California man has been sentenced to 18 months in federal prison for conspiring to steal beef products from a Nebraska processor.
Federal prosecutors said Tuesday that 33-year-old Artak Medjbarian of Sherman Oaks, Calif., was also sentenced the three years of supervision following his release.
Medjbarian pleaded guilty in July to conspiring with others to steal $163,000 worth of beef products from a Nebraska Beef plant in Omaha.
Prosecutors say Medjbarian used the identity of a legitimate trucking company in Arizona to bid on hauling a load of beef from Nebraska to California, but freight brokers raised questions about the documents and contacted the company.
Medjbarian was arrested when he showed up at Nebraska Beef pretending to have transport authority.
