(AP) — Authorities say a Nebraska man was killed when a train struck his car in southwest Iowa.
The accident happened in Hamburg around 3 a.m. Sunday.
The Fremont County Sheriff’s office says 39-year-old Christopher Hayes of Brownville, Neb., was driving a 1997 Chrysler that got stuck on the tracks.
A northbound Burlington Northern Santa Fe railroad train slammed into Hayes’ car.
Hayes died at the scene of the accident.
Authorities say they believe alcohol was a factor in the accident, but they are still investigating.
