The big question at the end of the Husker’s regular season is clear and simple; should Bo Pelini be fired?
After ending the season with a loss against Iowa, Nebraska fans across the state seem to all have an opinion.
The fact of the matter is, there’s one person with an opinion that matters more than anybody’s. That person is Shawn Eichhorst, University of Nebraska Director of Athletics.
Eichorst issued the following statement Saturday morning:
“My approach has always been to not comment publicly about our coaches until their full seasons are complete, as I strongly believe it is unfair and counter to best practices. However, given the volume of unfounded speculation and conjecture about our head football coach, I want to reaffirm what I have said many times since I have arrived at the University of Nebraska — that I positively respect, appreciate and support our football student-athletes, coaches and staff, as we do everyone in the Husker family. We very much look forward to our upcoming bowl game and Coach Pelini continuing to lead our program in the future.”
Kenny Bell, Senior Wide-Receiver, voiced his unwavering support for Pelini in a press conference following the loss to Iowa. Bell, who said that he would “play for Coach Pelini against Satan and a band of demons,” called Pelini a father-figure who changes the lives of his players.
So, the question will remain unanswered, but one thing is clear…Husker Nation will stand behind their football team through thick and thin. And that’s what makes us the greatest fans in college football.
