Bud Johnson, age 87 of North Platte, passed away December 9, 2013.
He was born on November 1, 1926 on a farm south of North Platte to Rollie and Maude (Stewart) Johnson. He graduated from North Platte High school with the class of 1945. On August 2, 1951 he married Barbara Loftus in Ogallala, NE. Bud was employed by Demptster Furniture from 1947 until 1955. In 1956 he began working at Swans Furniture and was there until he retired in July of 1994. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, softball, bowling, NE football and playing with his great grandkids. He was a member of the Episcopal Church and the Mill Isle Boat club.
Bud is survived by Barbara, his loving wife of 62 years; son Ed (Pam) Johnson of North Platte; daughters Marcia Collins of Omaha, and Carol (Don) Dailey of North Platte; grandchildren; Julie (Ben) Miller, Tony (Taylor) Johnson, Jason (Gina) Sommer, Danny (Rachele) Dailey, David (Cashia) Dailey, Amber Gamble, Adam Dailey, Michelle (Mike) Speer, Brian (Yadira) Collins, Andrea Cortes, 24 great-grandchildren, and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Ivan, Amos, Fritz; and sisters, Cora, Erma and Fern.
Memorials are suggested to the Episcopal Church or the Callahan Cancer Center and online condolences may be shared at www.carpentermemorial.com. Funeral services will be 10:30 am Thursday, December 12, 2013 at Carpenter Memorial Chapel. Burial will be at Floral Lawns Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at Carpenter Memorial Chapel, which is in charge of arrangements.
