In all of the discussion about the Affordable Care Act, how it will impact patients, what it will cost, and what it will do to hospitals across the nation, Great Plains Regional Medical Center Chief Executive Officer Greg Nielsen says one thing will remain the same in the North Platte region: Hospital administrators, physicians and staff will continue to work together to ensure that patients have access to high-value healthcare at the lowest cost possible.
So far, the Great Plains “high-value, low-cost strategy” seems to be working.
The Nebraska Hospital Association recently launched a new website feature called Care Compare. With it, consumers can easily compare pricing data from hospitals across the state. While data referencing average charges may deviate when the severity of an individual’s illness and response to immediate treatment are considered, the site provides a general idea of pricing among hospitals.
The chart below shows data collected from the Care Compare website.
“Overall, we are pleased with the findings of Care Compare,” says Nielsen. “Great Plains Regional Medical Center ranks very well when compared to hospitals with similar patient volumes and with all hospitals across the state.”
