LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) — A retired Nebraska State Patrol officer has been named to take over as executive director of the Nebraska Crime Commission.

The officer of Gov. Dave Heineman says he’s selected Darrell Fisher, of Lincoln. Fisher will be replacing Michael Behm, who is scheduled to retire. Fisher will take office on Thursday.

Fisher left the patrol as a lieutenant colonel in 2008, after 29 years of service. Since then he’s been an instructor at the Nebraska Office of Highway Safety and an adjunct faculty member at the Institute of Police Technology and Management at the University of North Florida.

His new position salary will be $85,000 a year.

The commission provides expertise, technical assistance, training, financial aid, research, evaluation, statistical services and informational resources to criminal and juvenile justice programs statewide.
