Boys Basketball

North Platte 44 Hastings 30

The Bulldogs scored exactly 11 points in each quarter en route to a 14-point win over the Tigers. The Dawgs led by as many as 20 points in the fourth quarter in the first round of the GNAC Tournament. The second-seeded Bulldogs won their third game in a row behind Drew Callaghan and Shane Mauch who each scored 12 points and Kade Erickson added 10. North Platte plays at 8:15 CT Friday night in the GNAC semifinals against third-seeded Scottsbluff. The game can be heard on ESPN Radio 1410.

Wallace 45 Cambridge 35

The Wildcats remain undefeated at 6-0 following the win over Cambridge.

Girls Basketball

North Platte 58 Hastings 40

The Lady Dawgs increased their winning streak to five games and beat Hastings in the first round of the GNAC Tournament in Scottsbluff. North Platte was led by Kaitlynn Harvey with 22 points, the third time in the last four games she has scored more than 20. Madalynn Doughty scored 14 and Allison Sawyer scored 13 for the Lady Dawgs as well. North Platte is the No. 3 seed and will play No. 2 Kearney in the semifinals Friday at 3:00 CT on ESPN Radio 1410.

Gering 48 Gothenburg 45

The Lady Swedes lost a close one in overtime on the road. Emily Franzen led Gothenburg in scoring with 12 points and Regan Geiken added 10 points and four assists. Allie Vacha had a game-high 17 points for Gering.

Boys Basketball

No. 4 St. Patrick’s 60 No. 9 (C1) Kearney Catholic 54

The fourth-ranked Irish jumped out to an eight-point first quarter lead en route to a six-point win. Mark Mayfield led the way with 16 points while Alex Harms and Andrew O’Neill each scored 15 in the win.

No. 3 (C1) Kearney Catholic 52 No. 2 St. Patrick’s 25

Monday, December 30

Boys Basketball

No. 4 St. Patrick’s 63 Amherst 57

The Irish remain undefeated on the season with a 7-0 record after beating Amherst Monday night. St. Pat’s was led by Andrew O’Neill with a game-high 19 points and Alex Harms and Mark Mayfield each pitched in 16 in the win.
