NPCC Lady Knights Fall at Eastern Wyoming

npcc-knightsTorrington, WY – The North Platte Community College Lady Knights basketball team (7-7) fell Saturday afternoon to the Wyoming College Lady Lancers (9-7) in Torrington, Wyo. 77-59 despite 14 points from Jordan Dickerson.

The game started with neither team being able to gain a significant advantage. Through the first 10 minutes neither team was able to gain any more than a one point advantage as the two teams traded baskets. The second 10 minutes was a different story as the Lady Lancers extended their pressure to gain a lead by as many as 15 points before taking a 12 point lead into the locker room 41-29.
In the second half the Lady Knights were able to battle back and cut the deficit to six points, but were never quite able to get over the hump to earn a lead against the Lady Lancers. Dickerson connected on four of eight 3-pointers for her team high 14 points. DaVontaye Merritt also chipped in a double-double as she finished with 13 points and 12 rebounds. Freshman April Stull finished with nine points and 10 rebounds.
Kara Babola led the Lady Lancers with 15 points while Jordan Nelson had 13 points and Courtney Dollison had 12 points.
?”We shot the ball well from the outside tonight,” said assistant coach Nolan Collins “but we need to get tougher on defense to become a more competitive, complete team.”
The Lady Knights stay on the road for the majority of January as they have four more road games before returning to the friendly confines of McDonald-Belton Gymnasium on January 28 to face the York College JV. Next week the Lady Knights take on Southeast Community College on Friday January 17 at 5:30 p.m. and Central Community College on Saturday January 18 at 1 p.m.
