Boys Basketball

North Platte 68 Grand Island 52

Kade Erickson had 19 points, including going 9/10 at the free throw line in the fourth quarter to lead the Dawgs to the win. Shane Mauch also scored in double-figures for North Platte with 17 points.

No. 10 Overton 62 No. 2 St. Patrick’s 45

The second-ranked Irish were upset and handed their first loss of the season by 10th-ranked Overton, which improved to 9-2.

Cambridge 52 Sutherland 48

Hayes Center 45 Brady 35 

Troy Lusk had 18 points and seven steals for the Eagles in the loss.

Wallace 70 No. 10 Paxton 49

The Wildcats improved to 11-1 with a big win over 10th-ranked Paxton.

Chase County 51 Gothenburg 47 F/OT

Tanner Borchardt had 14 points and 17 rebounds for the Swedes but it wasn’t enough as they lost on the road in overtime. Collin Hahn was also in double-figures for Gothenburg with 10 points.

Girls Basketball

Grand Island 55 North Platte 40

The Lady Dawgs struggled against the Islanders defensive pressure and had 21 turnovers in the game. Kaitlynn Harvey and Sally Hengen each scored 12 points to North Platte in the loss.

No. 3 St. Patrick’s 63 Overton 39

The game was tied at the end of the first quarter before the third-ranked Lady Irish outscored Overton 18-4 in the second to pull away.

No. 3 Hershey 45 Valentine 42

Valentine led by eight points at the half, but the Lady Panthers came storming back for the win.

Sutherland 71 Cambridge 31

Kaley Stokey scored 26 points to pace the Lady Sailors in a dominant win over Cambridge. Sam Stagges scored 19 points and Jalyne Schuster added 15 for Sutherland.

Brady 59 Hayes Center 34

Josie Palmer had 18 points and five steals to lead the Lady Eagles in the win. Tara Callahan was also in double-figures with 11 points as Brady improved to 11-1.

Wallace 37 Paxton 31

Gothenburg 37 Chase County 19

Regan Geiken scored 12 points and Aryn Meisinger had 10 to lead the Lady Swedes to the big win over the Longhorns.

Thursday, January 16

Boys Basketball

Wallace 59 South Platte 18

The Wildcats improved to 10-1 with the win, while South Platte is still looking for its first victory.

Cozad 52 Gothenburg 49

Tanner Borchardt had a game-high 20 points along with 13 rebounds for the Swedes, but it wasn’t quite enough in the loss to the Haymakers. Cozad had three players score in double-figures in the win.

Cozad 31 Gothenburg 29

The Lady Swedes shot just 23 percent in the game as they were outscored by 10 points in the fourth quarter. Regan Geiken led Gothenburg with nine points in the loss.

Sutherland 36 Hershey 33

Maywood 39 Maxwell 37

The Wildcats trailed 12-0 at the end of the first quarter, but couldn’t complete the comeback.

Girls Basketball

No. 3 Hershey 53 Sutherland 46

Allison Stewart scored 15 points in the loss for the Lady Sailors.
