Cold Weather Returns to Iowa, Neb. After Warmup

national-weather-service(AP) — Iowans and Nebraskans will have to re-adjust to colder weather after record-setting high temperatures over the weekend.

In Nebraska, record high temperatures were recorded Sunday in Lincoln, McCook, Grand Island and Chadron. In Iowa, a record high temperature was set in Sioux City.

Cathy Zapotocny, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Valley, Neb., says much colder air will be coming in for the overnight hours, but the coldest air will be in Iowa, Wisconsin and Minnesota.

Miles Schumacher, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Des Moines, says the northern half of Iowa will see the most dramatic differences from Sunday’s temperatures.

A wind chill advisory will be in effect for the northern part of Iowa until noon Tuesday.
