NPCC Names Homecoming King, Queen

npcc-homecoming-royalty-2014North Platte Community College students, staff, and faculty have voted Rascal Martinez of Sutherland and Jacee Kershaw of Culbertson as the 2014 Homecoming King and Queen. Runners up were Dakota Rice of Spirit Lake, Idaho, and Tawnie McConnell of Sutherland.

Martinez, the son of Matt and Pennie Martinez, is focusing on general education and business classes at the college. He chose NPCC because it is close to home. He is also a musical entertainer and owner-operator of Rascals DJ in North Platte. After graduation he hopes to go on a world tour.

Kershaw, the daughter of John and Joyce Kershaw, is focusing on science while at NPCC. She chose the college because she received a volleyball scholarship and says she enjoys the “smaller school feel of NPCC.” Her future plans include attending a university to earn her Bachelor’s Degree, then studying at the University of Nebraska Medical Center to become a Physician’s Assistant.

“With this being the first time we had a Homecoming at NPCC, it was quite amazing,” said Josh York, Assistant Housing Director/Student Activities. “Not only did the crowd see a great game, but they were also the first to see Rascal and Jacee be crowned as King and Queen. Between the crowning, the free cupcakes and the amazing games it was a great night.”

“Homecoming is for the students and they really showed their school spirit by making it a great time for everyone,” he said.
