UNL Newspaper to Cut Print Edition

daily-nebraskan(AP) — The University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s student newspaper will no longer print five daily weekday editions, opting instead to print two days a week to focus on its online content.

Editor-in-chief Hailey Konnath said in an editorial Friday that the newspaper, like many others, is grappling with declining readership and revenue.

The Lincoln Journal Star reports (http://bit.ly/MjMRPj) that the newspaper will focus on digital reporting to expand offerings to students. The student paper plans to publish content online first and focus on interactivity and diverse perspectives.

Konnath said in the editorial that “print is just not the way most college students get news anymore. It’s not as effective and it’s not as fast as opening up the DN app on your phone or following the DN on Twitter.”
