Veronica A. Englert, age 83, of North Platte, passed away Saturday, February 22, 2014 at Great Plains Regional Medical Center. She was born January 25, 1931 at Anselmo, NE to Ira and Katherine (Powers) Green. She graduated from Anselmo High School and attended Chadron State College. On June 2, 1953 she was united in marriage to Harold Englert in Anselmo. They lived in Colorado for 18 years before moving to North Platte in 1973. Veronica was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church and VFW Auxiliary Post 8544 in Dunning. Survivors include her son, Dwight (Pamela) Englert of North Platte; her daughter, Genevieve (Darrell) Billingsley of Whitman; brother, Dale (Phyllis) Green of Sargent; sister, Elizabeth (Bernard) Neville of Kearney; brother-in-law, Dewayne Weaver of Fremont; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Harold, three brothers, William, Donald, and Joseph Green twin-sister, Monica Weaver. Memorials are suggested to the North Platte Catholic Schools Endowment Fund. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 am Wednesday, February 26, 2014 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church. Burial will be at Ft. McPherson National Cemetery. Rosary will be 7:00 pm Tuesday at Carpenter Memorial Chapel. Visitation will be 1 to 7 pm with family receiving friends from 5 to 7 pm Tuesday at Carpenter Memorial Chapel, which is in charge of arrangements.
