Eva Virginia Everett, 82, of North Platte, NE, passed away on Tuesday, March 4, 2014, at her home surrounded by family.

Eva was the 11th of 12 children born to Harry Edward and Rosa Lucinda Greeley Lee. She was born June 4, 1931, at North Platte and grew up in the North Platte and Sandhills area where she attended school. Eva worked as a waitress and, “Loved every minute of it!” She later owned the Skelly Inn.

Eva was married for 10 years and had a son, Rodney, before divorcing her first husband. In 1961 she married Norman Medinger. Eva and Rodney joined Norman and his children, Christine, Katheryn and Gerald, and they made their home together in North Platte. Norman died in 1972.

In 1977 Eva married Roland Everett and they continued living in North Platte where they could enjoy the children and grandchildren. Roland and Eva enjoyed traveling South in their motor home. Everett passed away in 1999.

Eva was a member of the First United Methodist Church, UMW and Circle Three. She was also a member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary. Eva loved baking for the church, VFW, her friends and family. Eva loved playing cards; on Wednesday nights she cooked for her pitch group and Fridays she played for pennies with her PeKeNo group. Eva loved her birds and family, and she cared for others as her own.

Eva is survived by her daughters, Christine (Randy) Matson, of Grant, NE and Katheryn (Morgan Darrell “M.D.”) Keenan, of Langley, SC; five grandchildren, Mark Matson, of North Platte, Angie (George) Adams, of Ogallala, NE, Danielle (Chris) Schuette, of Waynesville, OH, Betsy (Nathan) Barber, of Langley, SC and Morgan “Tuffy” Keenan, of St. Louis, MO; her great-grandchildren, Emma and Andrew Matson, Wyatt Adams, Allison and Levi Schuette and Isabella “Bella” Keenan; three sisters, Dorothy Miller and Ruth Carlson, of North Platte and Daisy (Don) Musser, of Tryon, NE; a brother, Ben (Birdie) Lee, of North Platte; her great friends and neighbors, Bill and Kathy Dupree; and numerous nephews, nieces, other family and friends.

Along with her husbands, Eva preceded in death by her sons, Rodney and Gerald Medinger; her parents, Harry and Rosa Lee; three brothers, Walter, Clyde and Robert Lee; and five sisters, Phyllis Marshall, Agnes Kelley, Opal Barnes, Ruby Houk and Pearl Williams.

Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Monday, March 10, 2014, at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Dr. Douglas A. Delp officiating. Burial will follow in Fort McPherson National Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Odean Colonial Chapel at C & Sycamore. Condolences may be shared at odeanchapel.com. Memorials are suggested to the Methodist Church Kitchen Fund or the Callahan Cancer Center. Odean Colonial Chapel at C & Sycamore is in charge of arrangements.
