Nathan “Nate” L. Clark, 72, of North Platte, passed away Monday, March 3, 2014 at Great Plains Regional Medical Center. He was born July 17, 1941 to Lester L. and Ruby P. (Jensen) Clark in Dickens, NE. Nate graduated as salutatorian at the age of 16 from Wallace High School with the class of 1958. He served in the United States Navy from 1958 until his honorable discharge as 1st Class Petty Officer in 1966. On April 14, 1968, he was united in marriage to Verdena K. Butolph in North Platte. Nate was employed by the UP Fruit Express, as a clerk inspector, until his retirement. He was a member of Valley Christian Church, DAV, American Legion, and the Eagles. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, tending his calves and weather watching. He is survived by his wife, Verdena of North Platte; two sons, Eric (Stephanie) Clark of Omaha and Tyler (Tonya) Clark of Houston, TX; grandchildren, Brode, Henley and one future grandchild; a sister, Sharon Karre of North Platte; a step brother, Larry Wilmeth of North Platte; step sisters, Betty Halsey of North Platte and Creta Waltemath of Kearney; mother-in-law, Ethel Butolph of North Platte; sisters-in-law Voneta (Dennis) Engler, Joleen (Jon) Oosting, Gaylene (Robert) Davis; brothers-in-law Doug (Joy) Butolph, Arthur “Dick” Miller; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents; step mother, Lola Clark; sisters, Arletta “Janie” Miller and Karen Adams. Memorials are suggested to Valley Christian Church or Donor’s Choice. Burial will be at Ft. McPherson National Cemetery with military honors graveside. Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with family receiving friends from 5 to 7 Thursday, March 6, 2014 at Carpenter Memorial Chapel, which is in charge of arrangements.
