Charlotte Alene Yanken, age 83 formerly of North Platte, passed away March 10, 2014 in Omaha, NE.
Charlotte was born June 22, 1930 in Grand Island, NE to Willis and Marie (Montague) Prowett. She spent her early years in Grand Island and attended high school in North Platte. She married Sylvester Yanken on September 3, 1950 in North Platte. She spent many years as the Deputy Treasurer of Lincoln County. She and Syl were active members of the UP Old Timers Club and enjoyed their many activities.
Charlotte is survived by daughter Victoria (Robin) Marler of Omaha; 4 grandchildren Kelly (Jeff) Sichta of Gretna, NE, Kasey (Julie) Marler of Jonesborough, TN, Korie Marler of Omaha, NE, and Kyle (Julie) Marler of Springfield, VA; 8 great grandchildren Nicole (Travis Sanders) Sichta, Arielle, Marissa and Delainie Sichta, Treyson and Eva Marler, Brock and Kylie Marler; 3 great great grandchildren Ryland, Wilder and Isla; as well as many other family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Syl Yanken; 4 sisters; and 1 brother.
Memorials are suggested to the North Platte Alzheimer’s Support Group and online condolences may be shared at www.adamsswanson.com. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Friday March 14, 2014 at Adams and Swanson Funeral Home with Reverend Polly Deppen-Williams officiating. Burial will follow at Ft. McPherson National Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m., with family receiving friends from 6:00 until 8:00, at Adams and Swanson Funeral Home which is in charge of arrangements.
