A North Platte woman was arrested over the weekend after she allegedly drove drunk and waved at an officer trying to conduct a traffic stop.

At around 2:30 a.m., on Saturday, an officer with the North Platte Police Department observed a vehicle crossing the center line and driving erratically near 6th Street and Welch.

According to Investigator John Deal, instead of stopping for the officer’s lights and siren, the driver simply waved out the window.

After several blocks, the driver, 37-year-old Brandy Long, finally stopped the vehicle.

The officer believed Long was under the influence of alcohol, and conducted field sobriety tests.

Subsequently, Long was placed under arrest.

She’s been charged with driving under the influence of liquor-2nd offense, flight to avoid arrest and driving under suspension, all misdemeanors.

Long was jailed at the Lincoln County Detention Center.
