Suspended License, Meth Lands NP Men in Jail

Two North Platte men have been jailed after a traffic stop for a suspended license lead to the discovery of methamphetamine.

According to Investigator John Deal, NPPD officers had been advised to watch for a vehicle that was said to be operated by 22-year-old Rosendo Duran, who had a suspended license.

At around 12:50 a.m. on Sunday, an officer located the vehicle and, based on past contacts, identified Duran as the driver.

The officer detained Duran as he parked the vehicle and attempted to exit.  He was placed under arrest for driving under suspension.

During a search of the vehicle, the officer discovered a small amount of suspected meth and drug paraphernalia.  Deal said the contraband was located where the driver and front passenger, Keith Phelps, had been sitting.

As a result, Duran was charged with DUS and possession of methamphetamine.

Phelps was charged with possession of methamphetamine.

Both were transported and jailed at the Lincoln County Detention Center.
