(AP) — Lincoln police say a gambling citation given a Kearney city councilman during the boys state basketball tournament wasn’t for just a friendly wager.
Capt. Danny Reitan says off-duty officers saw 49-year-old Randy Buschkoetter and his 21-year-old daughter, Danielle, exchanging money with other people at a game Friday night at the Pinnacle Bank Arena. It wasn’t clear how much money was involved.
The councilman said Monday that he was willing to face the consequences of his actions, “because I will deserve them because I made some bad decisions for which I am deeply apologetic. But mostly to my daughter, who was simply in the wrong place at the wrong time.”
Buschkoetter has been on the Kearney council since 1998. The city website says his term expires in December.
