(AP) — Authorities have recovered the body of a 35-year-old man who died while attempting a parachute jump from a cliff in southeast Utah.

Grand County sheriff’s deputies say the body was recovered Saturday, a day after the man jumped from an area known as “The Sweet Spot” above Mineral Canyon about 40 miles west of Moab.

Deputies say the distance from the top of the cliff to the spot where the man’s body was found was about 400 feet and the cliff face was extremely rocky.

The victim’s name and details about the cause of the 7 p.m. Friday accident were not immediately released.

The man was a BASE jumper which involves jumping with a parachute from buildings, bridges and other features.

The victim’s friends notified authorities about the accident.
