Man Shoots Self In Front of Omaha Police

omaha-police(AP) — Police say a man suspected of creating a domestic disturbance shot and killed himself in front of officers.

The shooting occurred Friday afternoon when officers were called to north Omaha home for a disturbance. Police say they found 38-year-old Burdette Becks standing outside the house holding a handgun. Becks told officers he was going to kill himself, and he did so as officers tried to calm him.

Police say the shooting was captured on police cruiser video.

A grand jury will review the fatal shooting, as required by state law anytime someone dies in police custody or while being apprehended.
