The North Platte Noon Rotary Club was working hard to save lives yesterday at the Quality Inn and Suites.
The club held their annual “Blood Hounds Blood Drive,” in an effort to assist the American Red Cross overcome a nationwide blood shortage.
According to Rotarian, Misty Robertson, the group was able to collect 103 units of blood at the event.
The goal was to collect 140 units.
Robertson said the number is down from years past, but she pointed out that the event normally runs for two days instead of just one, and the group also had some very nice weather to compete with.
The winning teams for the drive were:
- 1st Place-First National Bank (supporting autism)
- 2nd Place-Rotary Interact Club (helping sponsor a student to the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards)
- 3rd Place-The North Platte Telegraph (supporting the Rape and Domestic Abuse Program)
