A North Platte man is facing a drug possession charge following a traffic stop early this morning.
According to Officer Rodney Brown, at around 12:40 a.m., on Thursday, an officer with the North Platte Police Department was sitting stationary in the Karl’s parking lot, 901 South Cottonwood, when he observed a white Oldsmobile Achieva traveling east on Philip Ave. in excess of the posted speed limit.
The officer conducted a traffic stop, made contact with the 32-year-old female driver, and issued her a warning for speeding.
The driver then gave the officer consent to search the vehicle, which, according to Brown, he did.
The search revealed a small clear plastic baggie containing suspected methamphetamine.
Following further investigation, Brown said officers determined that there was probable cause to arrest the passenger, 24-year-old Leroy Reeves, for felony possession of methamphetamine.
Reeves was transported to the Lincoln County Detention Center and jailed.
According to jail records, Reeves is being held without bond.
