DENVER (AP) — Jordan Lyles pitched effectively into the eighth inning and Colorado was aided by a reversed call that produced its first run in the Rockies’ 3-1 win over the Philadelphia Phillies on Saturday night.
Justin Morneau also drove in two runs the old fashioned way, connecting for his third home run of the season in the fourth after Carlos Gonzalez began the inning with a single.
Lyles allowed one unearned run on five hits in seven innings in winning his third straight, equaling a career best. LaTroy Hawkins pitched a hitless ninth for his fifth save in five chances.
Kyle Kendrick went seven innings and allowed three runs on six hits in a solid outing but could not avoid a seventh straight loss, dating to Aug. 11.
