The death of a 21-year-old Hastings College student has been ruled accidental.

According to the Howard County Sheriff’s Office, Jackson Dinsdale died after he intentionally cut off oxygen to his brain.  Officials say Dinsdale partially suspended himself with the intention of passing out, and experiencing a euphoric feeling.

Dinsdale’s body was discovered near St. Paul, on property owned by his family, last Saturday.

“This was just an intentional event that turned into a very tragic accidental unattended death,” said Sheriff Howard Schenck.

Schenck said there is no evidence that suggests Dinsdale intended to harm himself, and drugs and alcohol are not believe to have been a factor.

Jackson is the son of Grand Island business owners Tom and Kim Dinsdale, and the nephew of U.S. Senate candidate, Sid Dinsdale.
