Kim Wolfe and the Midwest MedAir family are holding a fundraiser for one of their own who has been responsible for saving hundreds of lives, and now fights for her own.
Paula Bagnell was diagnosed with Stage 4 Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma nearly four years ago. Doctors have determined that the disease is incurable.
Bagnell endured six months of chemotherapy, and will have a treatment every other month for two years to, hopefully, keep the disease in remission.
A flight nurse with MedAir since 2010, Bagnell has dedicated most of her life to helping others.
Bagnell served as a nurse in the Army for four years, the head nurse on a Traumatic Brain Injury Unit in Denver, a prison nurse, an ortho/neuro nurse, infection control nurse, a Geriatric nurse and a Critical Care Intensive Care nurse.
After lending her caring expertise to so many others, and saving hundreds of lives, Bagnell is now the one needing help.
Bagnell faces long-term chemotherapy treatments, and likely a stem cell transplant. Even with insurance, the cost of treatment and testing creates an enormous burden for the patient and their family.
To help offset some of these expenses, Midwest MedAir will be selling raffle tickets for a free ride around North Platte and the surrounding areas on their helicopter.
Raffle tickets are $20 each or 3 for $30, and can be purchased at Centris Federal Credit Union (Phillip Ave. and Jeffers St.), Janssen Chrysler Jeep Dodge (3101 S. Jeffers), or by calling 386-689-4109. Q Country 107.3 will be broadcasting live from Janssen Chrysler Jeep Dodge on May 14 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. During this time, tickets will be $10.00.
Bagnell will randomly select three names on May 21. The lucky winners will join her on a flight, Saturday, May 24.
Bagnell’s life depicts her philosophy, “Bless someone who cannot bless you back and choose to be someone’s blessing.”
