NEW YORK (AP) — The Los Angeles Kings are one victory away from their second Stanley Cup in three years.
Jonathan Quick made 17 of his 32 saves while the Kings scored twice in the second period of a 3-0 shutout of the Rangers. The Kings went ahead on Jeff Carter’s goal with 0.7 seconds left in the opening period, one of L.A.’s five shots in the period.
The Rangers outshot L.A. 17-8 in the second period but couldn’t beat Quick while Jake Muzzin (MUHZ’-ihn) and Mike Richards tallied against Henrik Lundqvist.
The Kings were 1-for-4 on the power play while killing off the Rangers’ six extra-man chances.
Lundqvist finished with just 12 saves.
Los Angeles will look to complete a sweep Wednesday at Madison Square Garden.
