A North Platte man has been charged with a felony after he allegedly assaulted his girlfriend at a North Platte business.

According to North Platte Police, officers were called to a business in the 1700 block of East 4th Street on the report of a disturbance at around 7:20 p.m., on June 6.

It was reported that 22-year-old Taylor Rivera had entered the business, approached his girlfriend and assaulted her.

Authorities say the woman was choked by Rivera and received other minor injuries before other patrons in the business intervened and stopped the assault.  Rivera then left the business.

A short time later, Rivera was contacted outside his residence and placed under arrest.

He’s been charged with 3rd degree domestic assault and felony strangulation.

Rivera was jailed at the Lincoln County Detention Center.
