Catherine Kay ‘Cathy’ Spotts, 74, of North Platte, NE, died at her home Wednesday, June 11, 2014.
Cathy was born February 4, 1940, to Wilbert William Willard and Agnes Martha Hoagland Johnson at Gothenburg, NE. She grew up south of Brady, NE and went to country school, graduating from the University of Nebraska School of Agriculture at Curtis, NE in 1957. Cathy first went to work as a waitress in North Platte then as a bookkeeper for W.J. O’Connors before working at First National Bank in the administrative department. Cathy then spent 23 years and five months at Shopko before she retired in 2011.
On May 16, 1977, Cathy married Glen Roy ‘Skip’ Spotts, Jr. at North Platte where they made their home. Cathy was an avid bowler and enjoyed reading, puzzles and her family. She especially loved her dogs, Buster and Tico.
She is survived by her sister, Karen ‘Sissy’ (Gilbert) Larson, of Curtis, NE; nieces and nephews, Tony (DeAnn) Larson, of Denver, CO, Teresa (Troy) Greve, of Waverly, NE, Mike (Shirley) Godwin, of Enid, OK and Patty Hill (Craig Bramer), of Phoenix, AZ; her great nieces and nephews, Ryan (Megan) Larson, Eric, Brooke and Brett Larson, Tiffany and Alexis Hill, Trae and Trev Greve and Colby and Taylor Godwin; brother-in-law, Larry Godwin, of Mexico; and other family and her friends.
Cathy was preceded in death by her husband, Skip; her parents, Wilbert and Agnes Johnson; a sister, Diane Godwin; and three infant brothers, Lyle, DeLoit and Richard Johnson.
Cremation was chosen. A memorial service will be 10 a.m. Monday, June 16, at Odean Colonial Chapel at C & Sycamore. Inurnment will follow in Fort McPherson National Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Curtis Community Center. The memorial book may be signed from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and before services at Odean Colonial Chapel at C & Sycamore which is in charge of arrangements.
