LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) — Gov. Dave Heineman has chosen an acting director for the Nebraska Department of Economic Development.

Heineman announced Monday that he has picked 42-year-old Dacia Kruse for the job.

Kruse currently serves as deputy director for the Nebraska Department of Administrative Services, a position she has held for three years. Prior to her job with the state, she worked with the Greater Omaha Chamber of Commerce to develop public-private partnerships in the community.

Kruse also served as the Omaha Chamber’s primary government relations official in developing economic development legislation.

She will replace Catherine Lang, who served as the state’s Economic Development director and as head of the Nebraska Department of Labor. Lang is leaving later this month to take a private sector job.
