A 41-year-old North Platte man is facing charges after he allegedly assaulted a pizza delivery guy.

At around 7:50 p.m., on June 21, North Platte Police responded to a residence in the area of C Street and Reynolds Street on the report of an assault on a pizza delivery guy.

Upon arrival, officers observed the 28-year-old pizza guy fleeing the area in his vehicle.

Officer Rodney Brown says officers made contact with the distressed victim who alleged that, after delivering pizza to the residence, Chon Dilley telephoned Pizza Hut and demanded the delivery guy return and pay him around $4.00 in change that Dilley said he was owed.

Brown said Dilley was not present at the time of the transaction, but instead, a younger juvenile was given payment to give to the delivery guy.

After returning to the residence, the victim stated Dilley became irate and confronted him about “stealing” the money.  The victim told officers that Dilley began poking him in the chest and yelling at him.  He said that when he attempted to retreat to his vehicle, he was overcome by Dilley who began choking him with his hands and punching him in the face.

Following further investigation, Brown said officers determined that there was probable cause to arrest Dilley and charge him with felony strangulation and 3rd Degree assault.

Dilley was transported to the Lincoln County Detention Center and jailed.
