Carl Robert “Bob” Simon

Carl Robert (Bob) Simon, 73, of Hutchinson, Kansas, formerly of North Platte passed away June 25, 2014 at the Hutchinson Care Center in Hutchinson, Kansas. Bob was born on May 18, 1941 in North Platte, NE to William E. and Elizabeth Markel Simon. He graduated from Saint Patrick’s High School. Bob attended Regis College in Denver, CO and joined the United States Army in 1963. Following his discharge in 1966, Bob returned to North Platte and hired on with the Union Pacific Railroad.
As a young boy he started golfing and continued as an avid player into his senior years. He was a lifelong member of the Saint Patrick’s Catholic Church in North Platte.
Survivors include his son, Chuck Simon of Omaha, NE; brothers, Tom of Hermiston, OR, Jim of Stockton, CA, Joe of North Platte, NE, Bill (Mary) of Cheyenne, WY, and Phil (Melodi) of Aurora, CO; sisters, Ann of Greenwood Village, CO, Kay (Dennis) Kisiel of Tulalip, WA, and Suzie of Sedona, AZ.
He was preceded in death by his parents.

Christian wake services will be 7:00 p.m. June 30, 2014 at Adams & Swanson Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 1, 2014 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church with the Reverend James Golka as celebrant. Burial will follow at Fort McPherson National Cemetery near Maxwell with full military honors graveside. Visitation will be noon until 6:00 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at Adams & Swanson Funeral Home which is in charge of arrangements.
