LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) — Nebraska will receive a $4.4 million grant from the U.S. Department of Labor to help retrain unemployed workers.
The Labor Department announced grants worth nearly $155 million Thursday. Nebraska is one of 32 states to receive a grant.
The money is earmarked for training workers who lost their job through no fault of their own for jobs in high-demand industries.
Officials say the grant money may be used to create or expand partnerships with companies to provide on-the-job training or apprenticeships. The money will also help provide career counseling and job placement assistance.
