OMAHA, Neb. (AP) — Authorities say an Omaha police officer has been seriously injured in a stabbing.
Police spokesman James Shade says the officer was stabbed Thursday afternoon while responding to a trespassing disturbance at a convenience store in north Omaha. The officer has been sent to a nearby hospital and is in serious but stable condition.
Shade says the officer was stabbed during contact with a suspect in the initial disturbance. The suspect was immediately taken into custody.
The name of the officer has not been released. Additional information about the suspect is not available.
