COLUMBUS, Neb. (AP) — Bail has been set at $1 million for a 19-year-old Columbus man accused of fatally stabbing his grandmother.
Chase Micklevitz (mihk-LEH’-vihtz) faces a charge of second-degree murder in the death of 58-year-old Deanna Micklevitz. Police say she was stabbed four times Wednesday afternoon with a kitchen knife at the home she shared with her grandson. She was taken to Columbus Community Hospital and then flown to a Lincoln hospital, where she was pronounced dead upon her arrival.
A Platte County jailer said Friday that Micklevitz remained in custody. Online court records don’t list the name of his attorney.
Micklevitz’s next court appearance is scheduled for Aug. 13.
