NP Police Investigate Attempted Abduction

north_platte_patchThe North Platte Police Department is investigating a possible attempted child abduction in North Platte.

At around 2:25 p.m., on August 5, officers with the NPPD responded to the 900 block of West 3rd Street on the report of suspicious activity.

The mother of a 13-year-old girl reported that a male subject allegedly attempted to lure her daughter into his pickup.

The woman told police that the man had been driving a white Ford pickup with an extended cab, and tinted windows.

When questioned, the girl advised that she had been walking to a friend’s house near Washington School, on August 4 at around 7:30 p.m.  She stated that the male subject drove up in a white pickup and tried to get her to go with him.

She said the man “took off” when she threatened to call police.  After the man left, she said she ran to her friend’s house.

Police say the girl could give no further description of the man or the vehicle he was driving.

They say they have not received any other similar reports, and believe this is an isolated incident at this time.

Report any suspicious activity to law enforcement immediately.
