A North Platte man has been charged with a felony after he allegedly stole a check intended for his roommate.

At around 4:16 p.m., on July 30, an officer with the North Platte Police Department responded to a reported forgery in the 400 block of North Ash Street.

The officer spoke with an individual in Western Nebraska, via telephone, in reference to a check for over $500 they had sent to the address on North Ash.

They reported that the intended recipient of the check never received it, but it had been cashed at a North Platte bank.

The officer learned that the intended recipient of the check had a roommate identified as Randy Mobley.

An investigator was assigned to follow-up on the case, and was able to view surveillance video at the bank that showed Mobley cashing the check.

According to Investigator John Deal, Mobley intercepted the check when it arrived in the mail, forged the recipients name and cashed it.

Mobley was contacted and placed under arrest for felony forgery.

He was jailed at the Lincoln County Detention Center.
