LEXINGTON, Neb. (AP) — A $1,000 reward has been offered for information about a man suspected of shooting at officers in Lexington.

Lexington Police Chief Tracy Wolf said Wednesday that the local Crime Stoppers put up the money for information about 25-year-old Jose Covarrubias, who is still being hunted.

Police say officers sent at 12:45 a.m. July 30 to check on a disturbance saw Covarrubias, of Lexington, fire a handgun at a woman fleeing a house. The officers say he also fired at their vehicles, and one officer returned fire before Covarrubias fled the scene.

An arrest warrant for Covarrubias says he’s wanted on two counts of attempted murder and other crimes. Online court records don’t list the name of his attorney in the case.
